There are many foods that we would love to feed our dogs. But are they all safe? Some foods are healthier than others and some are just toxic. Never fear, because I have put together a list of human foods that your dog will love and that are safe for them too.
Safe Foods for Dogs
Can Dogs Eat Bananas?
Yes, dogs can eat bananas. If by chance your dog eats a whole banana, don’t fret, the skins are not toxic. If your dog does consume a banana whole, he might end up with diarrhea. Your safe bet is peel and cut into the right serving size for your dog. Like most fruits, bananas are full of sugar which can make your dog fat. If your dog does not like fresh bananas, try some frozen ones. They are especially good on hot humid days.
Can Dogs Eat Apples?
Apples are an excellent way to satisfy your dogs sweet tooth and get him some very important nutrients such as vitamin C, fiber, calcium, and phosphorus. It is low in calories and most dogs love the taste. When feeding apples to your dog, it is best to cut into slices so it is easier for your dog to chew. Never give the seeds to your dog as they contain cyanide, which is very toxic. Moderation is key here so your dog does not get diarrhea.
Can Dogs Eat Watermelon?
Watermelon is a great summer treat for your dog. You should make sure to take some precautions though. The rinds and seeds should be avoided as it could cause intestinal blockage and diarrhea which could cause dehydration during those hot summers. Watermelons are full of vitamins, such as vitamin B6, vitamin A and C. They also contain minerals potassium and lycopene and is a great low calorie treat.

Dogs can consume Oranges which is a great source of vitamin C. Oranges should be given out sparingly like most fruits because of the high sugar content. A slice or two a day would be good. Everyone knows about the vitamin C, but oranges also are high in potassium, folate and thiamine. These vitamins and nutrients can and will help strengthen your dog’s immune system.
These Fruits I have shared here are all great healthy treats for your dogs. They can be taken fresh or frozen and will provide your dog with many of the vitamins and minerals your dog will need to live a healthy life.
